We have had a great start to the school year! I've been busy in the counseling department as I conducted New Student groups to welcome all of our new students in 1st-5th grades, and also visited each classroom in K-5th grades for introduction lessons. During the introduction lesson I welcome students back to school, discuss why someone might need to see the school counselor, and remind them how they can come see me.
After completing introduction lessons, I began the academic unit in the classrooms. Students are exploring and practicing skills for success in the school - focusing, active/whole body listening, and following directions. We are also talking about how practicing these skills can make them a leader in their classroom. It's fun to be a part of these discussions across the grade levels and I enjoy visiting all of the classes!
